Warning: a guy on r/writing said to push through the boring middle of long stories, and it actually worked
I used to bail on any story past chapter 10, but last month I stuck with a 40 chapter serial about a Nebraska lighthouse keeper and chapters 12 through 15 were a total drag. Now I want more slow burns that pay off late, so what's the longest one you've actually finished?

Watched my buddy Dave go through this with some beast of a fantasy series, like 9 books about a kid learning magic or whatever. He said books 3 and 4 were pure pain, just the guy walking place to place and talking to farmers. But he pushed through and by book 6 he was texting me at 2am losing his mind over some big reveal about the kid's dad. Now he won't shut up about it and keeps telling me to start the whole thing. Longest one I ever finished was way shorter, only 22 chapters, and even that tested me.
