Serious question, does anyone else keep a running list of links they mean to read and never do?
Last Tuesday I sat down at my kitchen table in Boise to actually go through my bookmarks and I had 214 of them saved going back to 2021. I realized I had been treating my bookmarks bar like a junk drawer, just dumping anything that looked interesting so I would not lose it. So I opened a plain text file and forced myself to sort every single one into three piles: read now, read later, and delete. I got through all 214 in about two hours and deleted 160 of them, which honestly felt great. Now I keep one small folder of ten links max and I clear it out every Sunday night. Does anyone here have a system that actually works, or do you just let them pile up like I did?
I used to be the guy who said his bookmarks were fine, that having 300 links saved was just being prepared. Then my laptop died in 2022 and I lost every single one, and you know what I felt? Nothing. Not one of those links mattered because I never went back to any of them. That was when I started doing something close to what you do, though I keep it simpler, one folder called Sunday and if I do not touch a link within a week it gets cut. 214 down to 10 is the part that got me, since I bet most people reading this have a number close to yours and do not even know it.
