Thought my $9 thrift store rice cooker was junk, then it outlasted my $80 one

I bought it at a Goodwill in Tacoma mostly as a joke, and it cooked perfect rice every time for 2 years while the fancy one died at 8 months. Now I keep an eye out for old ones at yard sales. Anyone else had cheap gear beat the pricey stuff?
