Bought a $12 USB floppy drive in 2019 just to grab old tax files. Still use it more than my cloud account.
Back in 2019 I dug a shoebox of 3.5 inch disks out of my parents' closet in Dayton and had no way to open them. I grabbed a no name USB floppy drive off a marketplace listing for $12, mostly figuring it would die inside a month. Six years on and it still spins up fine, and I pull it out maybe once a month for old work files or a game save I never moved over. The funny part is my cloud backup wanted $30 a year and I already forgot the password twice. Cheap stuff like this either dies fast or outlives everything, in my experience. Anyone else still keep a working floppy or zip drive around just for one stubborn folder?
