Vent: I spent 4 years using the wrong clipper blade angle on fades

So for like 4 years I was doing my fades with the blade tilted forward too much, thought that was how you got the blend. Then last month a barber I look up to came into my shop in Austin and watched me do a cut. He just said "why you pushing down instead of lifting up?" and I felt like an idiot. Turns out I was basically scraping hair off instead of guiding it. He showed me that slight upward tilt thing and now my fades look way smoother. Anyone else have that kind of moment where a simple correction changed their whole technique, or is it just me being slow?
