That raspberry jam I tried to make turned into gummy cement
I was at my mom's house last Sunday trying to make raspberry jam from scratch. I got the pectin ratio all wrong and ended up with this thick, rubbery blob that stuck to the spoon like glue. My mom walked in and said "what in the world is that, a science experiment?" I tried to salvage it by adding more water and reheating but it just got worse. Has anyone else had a jam or jelly fail that turned into something completely unexpected?

My buddy Ryan tried to make homemade raspberry hard candies once and burned the sugar so bad the whole batch turned into this dark purple hockey puck. He wrapped it in wax paper and brought it to game night, swearing it was just "extra chewy." Nobody could bite into it, not even with a knife. You ever see a grown man try to chisel a piece of candy off a countertop with a butter knife?
