Ran a new outlet in my kitchen last week without killing the breaker first
Last Tuesday I was adding an outlet behind the fridge so my wife could stop using that janky extension cord. I figured the fridge outlet was on its own circuit, so I just started pulling the old box out with my screwdriver. Heard a pop, saw a flash, and my hand jerked so hard I put the screwdriver through the drywall next to it. Turns out that circuit also feeds the microwave and half the counter, which I found out the hard way when the breaker finally tripped. Now I own a $30 voltage tester and I still flinch every time I touch that wall. Anyone got a trick for labeling a panel that some guy in 1987 clearly gave up on?
