Found an old magazine from 1993 that said the internet was just a fad

Was cleaning out my uncle's garage last weekend and found this old Popular Mechanics issue from October 1993. There's a whole article about how the internet would never replace libraries or phone books because "people need physical records." They literally said online shopping would fail because nobody trusts paying with a credit card over a modem. I scanned it and put it on imgur if anyone wants to see the full thing. Anyone else got old predictions that aged like milk?

Honestly, I still have a 1995 issue of WIRED that predicted we'd all be wearing VR headsets to do our grocery shopping by now. Tbh, my biggest tech failure was buying a betamax player in 1986 thinking it was the future. Ngl, my uncle has a box of Zune accessories he's still convinced will be worth something someday.
