Warning about drawing at 2am with a felt tip pen instead of a pencil

I used to sketch with a pencil so I could fix my mistakes, but now I grab a Sharpie and just commit, and my last page has a cat with 6 legs and no tail. The felt tip bleeds through the paper and onto my desk, so I have a permanent blue blob shaped like Ohio on the wood now. Does anyone else keep a junk notebook just for these late night messes, or do you draw straight on the good stuff?
