The $16 calligraphy pen that made me stop blaming my hands

I used to think my 2am sketches were garbage because my hand was shaky or I was tired. Then I bought a cheap dip pen with a flex nib at an art supply shop downtown for $16 and suddenly my ugly line work looked intentional. The nib catches paper fibers like crazy and makes these wild splatters, but honestly that's the look. Has anyone else found one weird tool that changed how they feel about their bad art?
