Spent 4 hours trying to fix my scanner smudge on a 2am sketch before realizing it was a cat hair on the glass

Last Tuesday around 1am I drew this lopsided goblin on my flatbed scanner and every single scan came out with a weird gray streak down the left side that I assumed was my pen dying. I redrew the whole thing three times, swapped pens, cleaned the glass with alcohol wipes, and even reinstalled the driver before my girlfriend walked by and plucked a cat hair off the glass. How many of you have blamed your art supplies for something your pet did?
