I finally figured out why my car hauler quotes kept coming in $400 high, took me 11 days to spot it
So I've been shipping cars from Phoenix up to Portland for a small dealer I work with, and for two weeks every single quote I pulled came back around $400 more than the numbers I was seeing on the load boards. I figured it was fuel prices or some seasonal bump, so I just ate the cost on three cars and moved on. Then it hit me to actually check the pickup address I had saved in my account, and it still had my old shop location on Grand Ave from when I moved in 2022. The dispatchers were pricing a pickup 22 miles out of the way plus a residential surcharge because the old spot was in a neighborhood with low trees, so every single quote had extra fees baked in. I fixed the address, pulled a fresh quote the same afternoon, and it dropped from $1,180 to $785 for the exact same route. Eleven days of pulling my hair out over a text field I never updated. If you move yards or lots, go check what address your transport account is still using, because mine was quietly costing me real money on every single load.
