Warning: Found a 4 inch gap where my deck meets the house after the storm last Tuesday
Last Tuesday's storm dumped about 3 inches on us in Decatur and I went out Wednesday morning to check for branches. I noticed daylight showing through right where my deck ledger board meets the siding, which I guess had been there a while but I never looked at it that way before. I got a flashlight and saw soft wood and some old water stains on the rim joist behind it. Called a guy out and he quoted $850 to pull some boards and reflash the whole thing. Now I walk the perimeter of my house every time it rains hard, just checking that seam. Has anyone else found rot hiding behind their deck ledger, and did you catch it early enough to just reflash it?
