Update: I stopped bagging my own clippings after my neighbor said something that stuck
For 3 summers I bagged every single clipping from my Bermuda lawn in Decatur and hauled 8 bags to the curb each week, thinking thatch was gonna choke it out. Then last month my neighbor Ray, who's been cutting grass here for 30 years, watched me drag the last bag out and said "you're throwing away your free fertilizer." Now I mulch mow with my Honda and the yard looks better than it ever did, so is there any real reason to bag unless the grass is crazy tall?
