Spent $1,100 on new attic insulation last spring, and my July power bill dropped by almost half
We live in a 1950s ranch in Decatur and the old stuff up there was basically flat, so I finally paid a crew $1,100 to blow in fresh insulation before summer hit. First full bill after that came in at $96 instead of the usual $180 to $190, so it looks like it will pay for itself in about a year. For anyone who has done this, is it worth adding a radiant barrier on top of the new insulation or is that just extra money down the drain in our climate?
