Hot take: stacking 40 frames of the moon on my phone beat my DSLR shot
Last week I pointed my phone at the moon through my little 70mm scope and let it shoot 40 frames on burst mode. I stacked the best 15 in a free program called AutoStakkert and the result honestly looked sharper than the single shot from my old DSLR. Turns out the moon wobbles enough in the air that one long exposure smears the craters, but stacking grabs the good moments. The crater rims near Tycho came out crisp for the first time. Anyone else shooting lunar stuff with just a phone and a cheap scope?
Stacking helps because of the shifting air, sure, but a DSLR can shoot burst frames too and stack just the same, so it's not really phone vs DSLR. The phone wins on convenience, not on the actual stacking trick.
