Dropped $180 on a light pollution filter for my telescope and it barely did anything
I bought a cheap 8 inch dob back in March and got hooked on shooting the moon and planets from my driveway. Then I read somewhere that a light pollution filter would let me pull nebulas out of my orange zone skies, so I spent $180 on one. Four clear nights later and all it really does is tint everything blue and dim the stars I could already see. I still drive 40 minutes out to a dark site in [town name] when I want the good stuff. Has anyone found a filter that actually helps from a city, or is that just money I'll never get back?
