Comparing my first moon shot from 8 months ago to last night, the difference is wild
I got my first decent moon shot back in February with just a kit lens and a cheap tripod, and it was basically a bright blob with some gray smudges. Last night I finally stacked 200 frames in free software and the craters along the terminator are actually sharp. The big change was learning to shoot video instead of single frames, plus waiting for the moon to get higher in the sky so the air wasn't messing things up. I'm still using the same old camera, just a different method. What did your first stacked moon shot look like compared to your early single frames?

Shooting video instead of single frames was the game changer for me too. My first stacked moon shot was night and day compared to those early single frames, which looked like a flashlight through a dirty window. The single shots always had that mushy edge no matter how steady I held the camera. Once I started grabbing a few hundred frames and letting the software pick the sharp ones, the craters just popped out. Waiting for the moon to climb higher helped me a ton as well, the low shots were always swimming in haze. Same old gear, whole new result, that part still blows my mind.
