A server crash at my buddy's place in Reno made me stop blaming the RAM
Four months back I kept telling my friend his PC needed new memory sticks because it froze every time he opened more than 6 browser tabs. He finally ran a disk check and found his 8 year old hard drive had 43 bad sectors, and swapping to a $60 SSD fixed it in one night. I was so sure it was RAM that I never even considered the drive failing slowly. What tools do you all use to pin down a freeze when it could be a dozen different parts?
