Unpopular opinion: the 1976 Knuth paper is overrated for modern sorting
I tracked down the original print in a university archive last month and the actual benchmark numbers only beat insertion sort by 18%, which was way less dramatic than everyone's 40 year old hype, anyone else find the real data underwhelming?

Hype always outlives the real numbers, same with old recipes and garage sales.
