Serious question, did anyone else spend 3 winters shoveling their driveway the hard way before figuring out the push technique?

I live in Buffalo and for 3 winters I was lifting every scoop of snow and throwing it over my shoulder like an idiot, which wrecked my back by February every single time. Last week my neighbor Dale watched me from his porch for like 10 minutes and finally walked over and said "you know you can just push the whole thing across the driveway, right?" I felt so dumb standing there with my shovel in the air. Turns out you just keep the blade flat and shove it along the pavement to the edge instead of lifting anything, and my driveway took 15 minutes instead of an hour. Has anyone else been doing some basic task the hard way for years because nobody ever showed them the right way?
