Bought a $40 slate for cheese, my old wooden board was actually better
Last month I grabbed a big slate board from a shop in Portland for a party platter. It looked amazing but the cheese slid around and the smell stuck to it no matter how I scrubbed it. My plain old maple cutting board, the one that's stained from years of use, held everything in place and cleaned up in seconds. Now I'm stuck with this slate that only gets pulled out for photos. Has anyone found a real fix for seasoning slate, or should I just donate it to a thrift store?
