Three years ago I could pull any court record from a phone, now I'm digging through county portals at 11pm

Back in 2021 I'd punch a case number into a state site from my truck in Omaha and get the whole file in two minutes. Last week I needed a divorce decree from Douglas County and had to email the clerk, wait 48 hours, then pay $18 for a PDF that only showed half the pages. Has anyone else watched public records access get buried behind paywalls and login walls since the pandemic?

Tbh I used to roll my eyes at people complaining about records access, figured they were just lazy or wanted everything handed to them. But last month I needed a property lien history for a job bid and the county site wanted me to create an account, verify my email, then pay per page. I gave up and drove 40 minutes to the courthouse because it was actually faster, which is insane.
