My librarian told me to skip Google Books and I think she's wrong about it
Last Thursday at the Evanston public library, a reference librarian named Dana shrugged when I asked about Google Books and said it was "a dead end for real research." I get why she says that, but for a 1923 seed catalog I was chasing, the full-text scan found one mention on page 47 that no archive index ever showed me. Am I the only one who thinks people write off Google Books too fast for old print stuff?
