Hot take: should we crowd-fund repairs for the Clarendon fountains or just accept the noise?

Last month I was eating at a patio spot by the Clarendon fountains and a jet sprayed sideways, soaking my phone and fries. Half the comments online want to fix them, the other half say the splashy quirk is part of the charm. Which side are you on if it costs $8k and takes three weeks of construction noise?

Wait, is this really about the fountains or about people wanting everything to be perfectly controlled all the time? The sideways spray is annoying but honestly, it's been doing that for years and people still sit right next to it. Eight grand and three weeks of jackhammer noise just to make it behave like a boring mall fountain... I'd rather keep the chaos honestly. But I also get that if you're trying to eat outside and get drenched, that's not charming, that's just bad design. Maybe they can fix it with a simple valve adjustment instead of a full tear-down for half the price... but nobody wants to hear that suggestion I guess.
