Clarendon's paid parking vs. free garage debate, which side won for you?

A buddy swore by the Courthouse garage even when meters were open, said paying $3 an hour was better than circling for 20 minutes. I laughed at him until last Saturday when I spent 25 minutes hunting a spot near Wilson Blvd and ended up late anyway. Meanwhile my coworker thinks the city should nuke all metered spaces and just raise garage rates to cover it. We both lost out to that new lot on Pershing that charges $8 flat, which honestly felt like a steal. So who's right here, the pay-early people or the meter gamblers? Has anyone else switched sides on this after a bad parking day?

Is it just me, or does this whole debate come down to how much people value their time over their money? The real pattern I see is that everyone picks a side based on one bad experience, then sticks with it forever. You got burned by circling, your buddy got burned by paying, and now you're both stuck in your ways until the next bad day flips you again.
