Broke a 2,000 year old pot sherd on my first day at a dig near Rome
I was washing pottery at a site outside Rome and picked up a sherd the wrong way, and it snapped in my hands because I had no idea how thin it was. The site director just said "now you know how it feels" and made me bag and label every piece from that trench for the rest of the week. Has anyone else had a supervisor turn a mistake into a lesson instead of a write up?
