Watched a sub go from stiff and choppy to smooth over 12 episodes and I finally figured out why
Started Mob Psycho 100 last month after putting it off. First few episodes the animation felt jerky to me, like the fights had no weight. Then around episode 5 I looked it up and found out Studio Bones had different animation directors per episode, and the action scenes were done by Yutaka Nakamura's crew on 2s and 3s for punch while the quiet scenes used way fewer frames on purpose. Went back and rewatched the first fight and it totally clicked, it was a style choice the whole time. Anyone else have a show that flipped on you once you knew how it was made?
