Unpopular opinion: Filler episode debates turn anime talks into pointless fights
My online anime group spent a whole night arguing about One Piece filler. I called it lazy writing and got yelled at by several people. Fans get so defensive over padding that they ignore the actual quality. We should talk about cool moments or themes, not waste time on this. It just kills the vibe for everyone involved.

Yeah, it really does kill the vibe... those filler fights are so exhausting.

Remember that one Naruto filler arc where they were stuck in a cave for like eight episodes. Just constant, pointless fighting with clones of themselves. It felt like the writers were just trying to hit a time slot.

Hit a time slot" is right... I always wondered if those filler arcs were secretly training for the animators to try out new fight scenes without messing up the main story.
