I was totally against watching that mecha anime from the 90s

After my friend kept pushing Evangelion on me for months I finally gave in last weekend and binged the first 10 episodes and now I get why everyone talks about it, but does the third act actually hold up or does it fall apart like everyone says?

Yeah, the third act is where it gets wild. Some people say it falls apart but I think it actually sticks the landing, just not in a neat way. The last few episodes are more about messing with your head than wrapping up the plot cleanly.

You've got a point @richard_roberts80 but the timeline is actually off. The third act doesn't really spike until episode six, not the usual mid-season mark. Episode seven is where the rug gets pulled, that whole parallel editing sequence with the two phone calls. The finale doesn't just mess with your head, it literally contradicts something from episode three about the main character's past. Messy but deliberate, like they wanted you to argue about it online.
