Pro tip: your light meter's "correct" reading will blow out a white wall every time
I shot a roll of Tri-X at my buddy's place in Portland last month and every frame against his white dining room wall came out as a flat gray blob, because the meter averages everything to middle gray and doesn't know the wall is supposed to be white, so you have to overexpose by about 1.5 stops to get it back, has anyone else just given up on metering white surfaces and started guessing?
