I finally found a fix for light leaks in my foam-lined camera bag, but is it better than just taping the seams?
Last month I shot a roll of Portra 400 through my Olympus XA on a rainy day in Seattle, and half the frames came back with a soft orange stripe along the right edge. I lined the lid of my old foam bag with a strip of black felt from a craft store, about 4 inches wide, and pressed it right over the hinge gap, and the next 2 rolls came back clean. A friend keeps telling me I should just run gaffer tape along the seams instead, since it seals tighter and costs less than the felt did. So I am torn between the soft fix and the tape fix, and I want to know which one actually holds up after a season of shooting. Has anyone tested both and found one that lasts longer without leaving a sticky mess on the bag?
