Question about keeping a landline after what I saw at a hotel in Erie during a storm
I was staying at a hotel in Erie, PA two weeks ago when a storm knocked out cell service for about six hours. The only thing that still worked was the old landline phone at the front desk, and that's how the staff called for help when a guest got sick. My cell phone had one bar and no data the whole time, so I just watched them use that phone like it was no big deal. Now I'm thinking about getting a basic landline put back in my house, just for emergencies. Does anyone here still keep one, and if so, what's the cheapest way to do it without a bundle?
We had almost the same thing happen during an ice storm a few years back and the only working phone was my mom's old landline in the kitchen. I still keep one now, runs about $20 a month for the basic line with no bundle, worth it for the peace of mind.
