My old wind-up alarm clock finally gave out after 15 years

It was a simple Westclox from a yard sale, and the mainspring snapped right as I was setting it for work last Tuesday. I dug out my old watchmaker's kit and managed to get it ticking again with a bit of oil and a careful hand. What's your go-to fix when a trusty piece of gear decides it's had enough?

Respect the dedication. My go-to fix is usually just staring at it angrily until I give up and buy a new one.

My last stare-down cost me a hundred bucks.

Fixing that clock is like patching old jeans. We fix things against the grain now.
