Hit 500 miles on my bike commuting this year and it caught me off guard
I got a old steel frame bike from a garage sale back in March and just ride it to work most days. Last week I checked the little odometer I stuck on the wheel and it said 503 miles. I honestly didn't think I'd even make 200. Has anyone else had a surprising milestone pop up from a simple routine change?

Oh wow, that is such a cool thing to realize out of nowhere! I actually just read an article about how small daily habits like bike commuting add up way faster than people expect. It said most folks underestimate their progress by like 40% or something, which totally tracks with your 503 miles. Those garage sale finds can be real gems too, my buddy got a similar old bike and it's still going strong after a year. I bet you're getting a ton of fresh air and saving some cash on gas without even thinking about it.

Crunch the numbers and that's like riding from Portland to San Diego on a bike you probably paid 40 bucks for. Pretty funny how a garage sale junker can outlast my gym membership that costs 10 times as much. Guess the secret was just not overthinking it and pedaling. Kinda makes me wonder what other stuff I'm accidentally accomplishing while paying zero attention.

Pedal long enough and you'll accidentally save enough on gas to buy another junker bike, that's what I call a closed loop system. But hey, at least the bike doesn't guilt trip you when you skip a day.
