Am I the only one who still writes checks at the grocery store in 2024?
Last week at the Piggly Wiggly on Main Street, the girl behind me sighed loud when I pulled out my checkbook for a $47.82 order. Three years ago nobody blinked, but now I get looks like I'm paying with chickens. I started doing it again after my debit card got skimmed at a gas station in Dayton last fall, and honestly I sleep better not having every purchase tracked. My grandma taught me to balance a checkbook when I was 12, and I still do it every Sunday with coffee. The clerk told me I'm the only person under 60 who writes checks there, which kind of made me proud. Does anyone else out there still use paper checks, or am I really the last one?
