Panel battery stats surprised me at a retrofit today

Gutted an old DSC panel this morning at a house in Maplewood. Checked the backup battery before tossing it. Label said 7Ah, figured it was dead after 6 years on the wall. Multimeter showed 12.8 volts still. That thing sat through every power blip since 2018 and held up fine. I always replace batteries at the 3 year mark out of habit. Now I'm second guessing that schedule. Customer said they never even tested the system once. Maybe we baby these parts too much. Anyone else find old batteries that still test good past their service life?
