The old timer at the hangar in Wichita told me to stop torquing by feel
About 8 months back I was rushing a panel reinstall on a King Air and an inspector named Dale walked over and just watched me for a bit. He asked how I knew the screws were snug and I said by feel, and he shook his head and handed me his own torque driver. He told me he watched a guy strip out 6 nutplates in a row on a Learjet years ago doing the same thing, and the fix took two days. Now I keep a small torque driver in my box for every interior and panel job, even the quick ones. Anyone else had an old timer call them out on something small that ended up sticking with you?

By feel works fine if you know what snug is.
