I finally quit chasing torque specs from memory after a talk with a 30 year guy in Tulsa
Last month I was rushing a brake job on a King Air and swore I had the caliper bolts at 40 foot pounds, and a guy named Ray with 30 years in Tulsa asked me to show him where that number came from. He pulled out a dog eared maintenance manual page from 1987 and the spec was 32 to 36, and he just said "if you can't point to the page, you don't know it." Now I keep a laminated card in my box for the stuff I do every week, and I'm curious how many of you actually crack the manual every time versus running off what's in your head?
