My toddler put a crayon in the air fryer and I didn't notice until the smell hit
I was thawing chicken nuggets on a Tuesday night in my kitchen in Boise when my 3 year old shoved a blue Crayola through the back vent while I was grabbing a plate. About two minutes into the cook cycle the whole house smelled like burnt wax and melting plastic, so I cut the power, yanked the basket out, and found blue goo pooled under the heating coil. Took me 40 minutes with a toothbrush and baking soda to scrape it all out, and the thing still reeks faintly of crayon when it heats up. Has anyone else ever had to deep clean wax out of one of these, or am I just buying a new basket?
