My neighbor swore you could cook a whole chicken in 30 minutes

She was totally wrong (it was still raw inside), so now I'm looking for a reliable recipe. What's your go-to time and temp for a 4-pound bird?

That's way too fast. Try 400 degrees for about an hour and a half.

Did your neighbor say how they were trying to cook it that fast? Ryan653 is closer with the time, but 400 degrees for that long might dry out the breast. I've found 375 degrees is a better spot for even cooking. For a four pound bird, I go about 20 minutes per pound, so roughly an hour and twenty minutes, but you always need to check with a meat thermometer.
