Vent: the pizza place on 5th in San Diego put a QR code on the box and I scanned it just to see what it was
Stopped at a slice shop on 5th Ave in San Diego last Friday night. Waiting on my order, spotted a QR code printed right on the pizza box. Not on a flyer or a table tent. The box itself. So I scanned it expecting a menu. Instead it opened this little spinning wheel on my phone, like a prize wheel. Spin once, get a chance at a free garlic knot or 10 percent off your next order. I actually did it and got nothing, which made me laugh. Then I noticed the wheel had a tiny timer at the bottom, and after 30 seconds it let me spin again. The ad was the box, and the box made me stand there spinning a wheel while my pizza got cold. Feels dumb to fall for but here we are. Has anyone scanned one of these and won something real, or is it always a near miss?
I did the same thing at a burger spot and spun my way to a 5 percent off coupon I will never use. My dignity is worth at least 6 percent. At least you got a laugh out of it before your pizza went cold.
