Spilled coffee on a napkin and it looked like a watercolor painting
Ngl I was just sitting at my desk last Tuesday trying to finish some paperwork and knocked over my mug. Coffee went everywhere including onto a clean white napkin I had sitting there. At first I was frustrated because I had to wipe down my whole keyboard but then I looked at the napkin and the stain had spread out into this cool shape with lighter edges and darker spots in the middle. It honestly looked like one of those abstract watercolor pieces you see at a gallery opening. I ended up taking a photo of it and even showed my roommate who works at an art supply store. She agreed it was legitimately interesting to look at. Has anyone else ever made accidental art from a common spill like that?

Oh for sure, I've had that happen more times than I care to count. You mentioning the "lighter edges and darker spots" really hit home because that's exactly the kind of accidental beauty you get from coffee stains. I once dripped a few drops of black coffee onto a paper towel and it spread out into this perfect little galaxy pattern with a dark core and fuzzy outer rings. I ended up framing it in a cheap frame from Target and hanging it in my kitchen, and people actually think it's some expensive print when they first see it. There's something about the randomness of it that makes it look so deliberate and artistic, which is probably why those "coffee painting" tutorials on YouTube get so many views. Honestly, if you don't have a photo saved of that napkin, you should dig it out of your phone because it sounds like a keeper.
