Rant: a guy in a 2004 truck forum called my links page a junk drawer, been thinking about it for days
Someone replied to a thread I started on a truck forum from 2004 that is still up, and his signature line said "half the links on the web are dead ends and the other half are somebody's junk drawer." I clicked through his profile and he had been posting there since 2006, adding one or two lines a year about carb rebuilds on a site nobody moderates anymore. Is it worth trying to archive the good threads before the server finally dies, or do you just let old sites go quiet on their own?
