The guy in the AOL chat room who mailed me a burned CD of mod files in 1998
I was 14 and hanging out in an AOL chat room called something like "WebDesigners1998" when a guy with the screen name Sk8rD00d offered to send me some HTML templates on a disc. Two weeks later a CD-R showed up at my house in Tampa with about 30 folders of mod music, some Geocities page templates, and a notepad file that just said "pass it on." He never asked for anything back and I never learned his real name. I still have that disc in a binder somewhere and it loads fine on my old Pentium tower. The whole trade took six days of mailing. Did anyone else do CD swaps through chat rooms back then, or was that just a thing in the design corners?
