Serious question, did the 14.4k modem or the 28.8 really change how you used the web?
I grew up in Toledo on a 14.4k and pages took forever. When my dad finally got a 28.8 in 1996, I could load one whole Simpsons fan page in maybe 90 seconds instead of five minutes, and I stopped typing out long forum replies because I wanted to save time online. Now some of my friends say the speed jump made them read more pages, but I think it made me lazier about writing stuff out. Did a faster modem change what you actually did on the web, or just make the same old stuff less painful?
